A BRITISH man who had to be pulled from the rubble of his Spanish home when it collapsed on top of him has died, according to reports. Malcolm Lawrence is thought to have died from emphysema and liver failure, although whether his condition was made worse by dust and the stress of the incident, in which firefighters had to cut through iron bars to rescue him in September. They then pulled him through a window of his apartment in La Zenia, Orihuela Costa (Alicante), an area popular with British expats. Now an insurance company survey has blamed the collapse of the building on an underground stream undermining the foundations.
