MORE than 750 runners from 20 countries completed Benidorm’s 10-kilometre race. Leaving the Plaza Triangular, the route followed the Avenida del Mediterrano, the frontline of the Levante beach and the Rincon de Loix before returning to the Plaza Triangular. Youssef Ahatach, from Club Dianium, was the first to cross the line, finishing the circuit in 33 minutes, with a local runner amongst the first three in the men’s and women’s categories. Ahatach was followed by Hector Varona (Grupo Alcaraz) and Juan Antonio Fernandez (Club Atletismo Benidorm). Maria Isabel Ferrer (Club de Atletismo Llebeig, Javea) was the first woman to finish the race, followed by local Benidorm athlete Sonia Tirado and in third place, Nicola Stevenson from the Poplar Running Club in London.
