AN 18-year-old Irish girl is recovering in a Costa del Sol hospital after falling from a balcony in Benalmadena on St. Patrick’s Day.
Niamh McGeoghegan suffered fractures to her skull, brain swelling, fractured ribs, shattered vertebra and a punctured lung after falling from a third-floor balcony.
After she regained consciousness last week, she has reportedly fallen back into a coma.
Niamh, originally from Warrenpoint Co Down, is still fighting and making small improvements daily, wrote her uncle Tony Curran on a crowdfunding website.
Tony said: “Weʼre raising £4,000 to help my niece Niamh who has suffered a life changing injury following a balcony fall in Benelmadena (sic) and is in ICU in Malaga, Spain. She is strong and a fighter but the family need all the support possible.”
And today the fundraising target has been met but Tony said: “Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed so far, words will never be enough to express our gratitude to you all.
“The family are going to have a lot of financial commitments ahead, so please keep sharing.
“Keep Niamh and her mum Claire dad Damien and sister Aoife in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you once again.”
