A YOUNG GIRL has died and an adult has been seriously injured after the tractor they were riding on overturned in Spain yesterday (Sunday).
The tragic accident happened in Collado de Cieza according to the 112 Cantabria emergency control centre when the vehicle left a concrete track on a farm and plunged down a 15-metre embankment.
Firefighters who rushed to the scene at midday found the adult with a serious head injury and the child in a critical condition. They immediately freed the two victims and started resuscitation manoeuvres on the child until paramedics arrived.
A rescue helicopter was drafted in to fly the young girl to hospital but her death was confirmed shortly after arrival at the Seve Ballesteros Hospital.
The adult who was driving the tractor taken to the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital by road ambulance. Their condition is described as ‘serious’.
