A TASTE of La Dolce Vita is coming to the Costa del Sol this weekend, as Benalmadena’s Puerto Marina is transformed into Little Italy.
Organisers of the event are bringing together highlights from Italian fashion, folklore, music, art in a special gallery (Ti Amo Italia), gastronomy and beautiful cars to allow merrymakers to sample the nation’s culture right here in Spain.
The fun programme starts with the official inauguration on Friday (May 10) at 1pm, featuring a performance by Deborah Dee who will be entertaining the crowds with songs from Italian greats like Mina and Andrea Bocelli.
Various events through the day – including an exhibition of Abarth cars and Vespa scooters put on by event sponsors Fiat Torino Motor at 6pm – will culminate at 10pm with a concert by La Combricola del Blasco, the official tribute to Vasco Rossi.
More events follow on Saturday and Sunday, starting from noon on both days, including folklore performance, a fashion show on Sunday, plenty of concerts from a wide variety of Italian genres and much more. And to make it even better, entrance is free.
The event was presented this afternoon (Tuesday) by Mayor of Benalmadena Victor Navas, accompanied by Letizia Bellini – President of Italiano Vero who organised the event – and other business and council representatives.
The mayor welcomed the initiative, saying it was fitting that the unique port of Puerto Marina should be showcasing culture from a country that is also famous for its ports and relationship to the sea.
Letizia Bellini said it will be a wonderful opportunity to find out more about La Dolce Vita – the good life – that Italians enjoy.
She said that Little Italy will transport visitors to the stylish and glamorous days of the 1950s and 1960s inspired by the films of Federico Fellini, as well as promoting Italian food, fashion and industry with the 100 per cent made in Italy label.
“It is a unique opportunity for the public to discover Italian excellence and for companies to offer their products in the south of Spain.”
The Euro Weekly News will be supporting the car exhibition put on by the Club Arbarth Malaga. So why not pop along and join us – it promises to be a lot of fun. We look forward to seeing you there!
