Quarry worker dies in Spain Credit: Facebook
A QUARRY worker has died after a boulder crushed the cab of an excavator he was operating.
The 55-year-old man from Teruel died instantly in a quarry in Castellet i la Gornal (Barcelona). He had been loading rocks onto a truck when one toppled onto him, according to the Mossos d’Esquadra Catalan police.
Various investigation units from the Vilafranca del Penedes police station (Barcelona), three medical units from the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (Sem) and five teams of firefighters from the Generalitat attended the incident.
The Mossos d’Esquadra have reported to the Instructional Court on duty in Vilanova and la Geltru (Barcelona) and to the Department of Employment, in accordance with the usual procedures for accidents at work.
