A DRIVER on the Malaga to La Linea bus route was attacked at La Linea bus station after allegedly damaging a badly parked car as he entered the Linensel Bus Station terminal.
The driver suffered injuries to his hands and face as he protected himself from the attack, where a man “of gipsy appearance” reportedly jumped out of the parked vehicle and started to smash the windows on the front of the bus.
The attacker then struck the driver with a heavy object, causing serious injuries which resulted in the driver needing to be treated in hospital.
The incident is the latest in a series of assaults on bus drivers, who are now calling for greater protection and awareness of the dangers they face.
Just last month, three drivers had to be treated for minor injuries following attacks by members of the public in Marbella.
According to police reports, the attacker has been arrested and is subject to questioning.
