THE Life size mascot parked outside stores of novelty and gift store Ale-Hop has long been a recognizable sight along Spain’s high streets.
It has also been the subject of many an attempt to climb, ride and pose in front of for photographs.
However one man took it a step further and attempted to steal the mascot outside the store in Playa de Palma in Mallorca in the early hours of Monday morning.
CCTV footage revealed that the man had spent two days loosening the fasteners that secure the cow model to enable him to eventually drag it away.
What the hapless criminal didn’t bargain for was that security guards patrolled the store, even in the middle of the night.
Security guards apprehended the man with his conspicuous bounty and the cow was returned to the store; however the man fled into the night.
According to locals, the criminal was well known in the area with a string of criminal convictions for burglary, mugging, hold-ups, shoplifting, wilful damage, and threats, which made it very easy for local authorities to track him down and make an arrest.
