National Police managed to prevent a 25-year-old Chinese man from throwing himself out of his apartment window after a heated argument with his wife during which she hit him with a slab of marble.
Officers were called to the apartment in the Carabanchel district of Madrid , where they found the man with scratches on the neck and face in addition to a bruise on the face.
The couple have a one-year-old baby, who was present in the house at the time of the events, and a neighbour had to act as a translator with those involved to find out what was happening.
According to the police, the woman took a piece of marble 50 centimetres long by 20 centimetres wide and hit her husband on the head with it. At all times she was very violent, despite the presence of the officers.
Police then arrested the woman for ill-treatment in the family environment, as well as for resistance and disobedience to authority.
At this point the man – who had earlier kicked one of the police men – ljumped through a window, but was grabbed by one of the policemen.
The man was left dangling by his fingertips over a 12 metre drop until both officers managed to haul him to safety.
He was then arrested for assaulting a police officer.
