Toll road to be repossessed by Spanish government with zero compensation

THE Minister of Transportation, Mobility and Urban Agenda José Luis Ábalos has announced his intention of removing the first of the toll roads from private hands.

This is the M-12 which connects Madrid centre with terminal 4 at Barajas airport and although there is in theory a financial obligation (RPA) of €54.37 million, the minister has confirmed that he intends to make no payment.

He believes that there is an outstanding sum of €194.72 million to be accounted for which negates any need to pay the RPA.
