MORAIRA’S Moors and Christians, like fiestas throughout Spain, were cancelled owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The rival bands could not take to the streets but balconies were adorned last Friday with the flags of each Moors and Christians group as the three-day fiesta began.
Photos of the balconies were shared on the Moraira Moors and Christians website, with a videoed speech from the president of the Fiestas committee and the captain of each band in the evening.
The following day the festeros uploaded photos and videos of the much-missed blunderbuss sessions and videos of mock battles between the Moors and Christians.
There was an opportunity on the last day to share more photos, followed in the evening by a video of last year’s gala parade.
