The former conservative Prime Minister (PM) David Cameron has posted pictures on his social media pages as he heads out to Poland to deliver aid for Ukrainian refugees. Cameron said he would be sharing the driving with two colleagues from the Chippy Larder, a food project in west Oxfordshire where he is believed to have volunteered for two years.

According to Cameron the Chippy Larder had collected enough donations to warrant a truck load delivery containing everything from nappies to sanitary products to first aid kits.

Posting a picture of himself at the wheel of the truck, he said: “It is going to be a long drive, but I’ll keep you updated along the way #StandWithUkraine.”

Cameron has called for more humanitarian help to be given to Ukraine telling Channel 4: “Let’s do more on humanitarian aid.

“We achieved 0.7% of GDP in our aid payments. I’m sad we’ve got away from that. I hope we can get back there.

“Let’s – with the EU – lead the donor conference, lead the aid effort. Let’s have a dedicated aid minister in the Cabinet doing development.

“The Foreign Office ministers do a great job but it’d be good to have someone who’s 100% dedicated to humanitarian aid and development.”

The current Chancellor, Rishi Sunak has said that the UK will return to international aid contributions of 0.7 percent by the end of this parliament, however that promise may be derailed by high inflation, the war and the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

With millions displaced and more than 500,000 people sheltering in the besieged cities with no water, gas or electricity supplies of key essentials like nappies and first aid kits are in short supply. As David Cameron delivers aid for Ukrainian refugees one can only wonder who Putin is targeting, the people of Ukraine or as he says its leaders.

It’s because of David Cameron and his Brexit that I would be unable to travel through Europe to Ukraine, even if I wanted to. Simple fact is I have used up my 90 days in the Schengen zone so now have to spend the next 90 days in the UK. Got any more good ideas David!
