The draw took place live on ITV this afternoon, Sunday, March 20, for the semi-finals of the Emirates FA Cup 2022. Three teams are already confirmed, with the draw coming during coverage of Liverpool’s match with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
Earlier this afternoon, Manchester City travelled to Southampton and came away victorious after an emphatic 4-1 win. For the first hour, things were not as one-sided as the scoreline would suggest. Southampton had their moments but simply failed to convert them.
Man City will play the winners of the Forest vs Liverpool tie, which is being played as we speak, with no goals yet.
Crystal Palace will face Chelsea in an all-London tie. Palace have never won the Cup, losing the 2016 final. Patrick Vieira is a four-time winner, so he will be looking to emulate that as a manager. His Eagles smashed Everton 4-0 yesterday at Selhurst Park.
Chelsea reached the last four courtesy of their 2-0 win over Chris Wilder’s Middlesbrough. Romelu Lukaku and Hakim Ziyech provided the goals.
The semi-finals will be played at Wembley Stadium on the weekend of April 16-17, with the two winners meeting again to contest this year’s FA Cup at the same ground, on Saturday, May 14.
