The Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez airport has added a new route for the summer of 2026, allowing eager travellers from all over the Costa Blanca to visit the most important city in Turkey: Istanbul. The major tourist capital previously had no direct routes to or from the Alicante province, but starting this summer season, Pegasus Airlines will now operate the direct connection to Istanbul-Sabiha Gökçen with four weekly flights, on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
To be exact, flights will commence from June 23, 2026 and will continue throughout the year. Tickets will start at €81 per journey, and are already available for purchase on the airline’s official website.
Connecting the people of the Costa Blanca to Istanbul and beyond
This means that people living on the Costa Blanca will be able to enjoy a direct route and see numerous incredible tourist attractions, including the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Grand Bazaar.
Not only this, since Istanbul boasts several connections to Asian destinations due to its close proximity, the new route could also present possibilities for travellers to visit numerous destinations in the Middle East and Central Asia.
The newest addition is one of a string of direct routes being added for the summer season of 2026, including to Yerevan, Armenia; London-Luton, England; and Constantine, Algeria, among many others.
