Rincon de la Victoria recently hosted specialised sessions to equip local emergency responders for extreme emergency situations, including wildfires and flash flooding. Coordinated by the Provincial Fire Consortium of the Malaga Provincial Council, these sessions took place as part of the local Civil Protection Board meeting.
Multiple agencies join forces in readiness exercise
Participants included the mayor Francisco Salado, councillors responsible for civil protection and public safety, local police, Civil Guard officers, firefighters, civil protection volunteers and health service staff.
Theory lays foundations for a unified response
Day one concentrated on classroom-based learning. Attendees explored key emergency management methods, received an introduction to the SIGMA methodology and examined its practical application within existing emergency plans. Experts stressed the value of consistent approaches across different organisations so that no one runs like a headless chicken if disaster strikes.
Practical simulation reaches maximum emergency level
On the second day attention shifted to hands-on exercises. Teams used a detailed scale model to run through a level 3+ scenario, representing the highest category of emergency. This realistic drill allowed participants to apply concepts directly and test coordination under pressure.
Common language reduces risks during operations
Organisers designed the course to establish a standardised and unified methodology. Different agencies now share identical terminology, procedures and tools when tackling major incidents. Such alignment removes ambiguity and increases operational confidence and readiness when multiple services respond together.
Local authorities strengthen disaster preparedness
Municipal leaders view this training as an essential step in building strength of organisation together. Regular collaboration between police, firefighters, civil protection and medical staff will guarantee smoother joint action if a serious event occurs. Residents of Rincón de la Victoria can take reassurance from these continuous efforts to maintain high standards of emergency readiness across the Axarquia coast. Success of the exercise should be visible by the time the zone reaches wildfire season in a few weeks from now.
