Air travellers using Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez Airport have more reasons to plan their next trip, with airlines continuing to expand year-round connections while offering competitive fares across Europe. From an extended winter service to Germany to one of Spain’s cheapest summer routes, the latest announcements highlight the growing importance of Alicante as one of the country’s busiest international airports.
German connection strengthens Alicante’s winter flight network
Passengers travelling between Alicante and northern Germany will be able to fly year-round after Eurowings confirmed it will continue its Hannover route throughout the 2026-27 winter season.
The airline launched the service in May as part of its summer schedule, but strong demand has led to the route being extended beyond the peak holiday season.
Flights will operate twice a week, every Thursday and Sunday, between November and March using Airbus A320 aircraft with around 170 seats.
During the winter programme, Eurowings has scheduled 38 flights between Alicante and Hannover. Thursday departures leave Alicante at 9.35 PM, while Sunday flights depart at 8.50 AM.
The extension means Eurowings will now operate four year-round routes from Alicante Airport, with services also continuing to Cologne/Bonn, Düsseldorf and Prague throughout the winter.
The move further strengthens Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport’s winter network and highlights the continued importance of the German market for the Costa Blanca.
Year-round international routes help support tourism outside the busy summer months, benefiting holidaymakers, second-home owners, business travellers and the region’s large expatriate community.
Germany remains one of Alicante Province’s most important overseas markets, making the expanded schedule welcome news for both travellers and the local economy.
Alicante route among Ryanair’s cheapest summer flights
Anyone planning a last-minute summer break could pick up a bargain from Alicante, with Ryanair naming one of its Costa Blanca routes among the cheapest flights available from Spain this season.
The airline’s latest Smart Travel Index highlights the lowest fares across its Spanish network, with direct flights from Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport to Marseille starting from just €19.99.
The French port city is one of ten destinations included in the list, alongside routes from Valencia, Barcelona, Madrid, Málaga, Seville, Palma de Mallorca, Girona, Tenerife and Ibiza.
Ryanair says it is operating more than 715 routes from Spain this summer, offering travellers a wide choice of city breaks, beach holidays and cultural escapes across Europe and North Africa.
Other low-cost routes include Valencia to Marrakech, Barcelona to Venice, Seville to Toulouse, Málaga to Tétouan, Palma to Pisa, Tenerife to Agadir, Girona to Beni Mellal, Ibiza to Paris Beauvais and Madrid to Bergamo.
The airline says the fares reflect current promotional prices, although passengers should remember that optional extras such as checked baggage, seat selection and priority boarding can increase the overall cost of a trip.
Ryanair spokesperson Alejandra Ruiz said the airline remains committed to offering affordable travel while continuing to expand its network, giving customers more choice when planning holidays and short breaks throughout the summer.
