Eco Amigos to hold woodland clean-up in Casares Costa this Sunday

Grab your gloves as the Costa del Sol’s favourite band of litter-busters are heading into the woods this weekend, and everyone’s invited

When and where is the Eco Amigos Woodland Clean Up?

The “Eco Amigos Woodland Clean Up” takes place on Sunday, August 9, running from 9.30am to 11am. Volunteers should meet outside the Muebles Gavira furniture store in Casares Costa, gathering by the small, distinctive “chess piece” building next to the shop, close to the Casares Costa petrol station and a short walk from Restaurante Bahia de Casares. A quick briefing kicks things off before the clean-up begins promptly at 9.40am, so latecomers have only a narrow window to arrive.

What do I need to do on the day?

The session runs for roughly an hour and a half, with all essential kit, bags, gloves and litter pickers supplied free of charge. Families are welcome and children are actively encouraged to join in, though organisers have asked that dogs kindly stay at home. Bring a sunhat, mozzy-repellent and drinking water. Once the work is done, the group will head off for a well-earned drink at the nearby restaurant, just a minute’s walk from the meeting point.

Eco Amigos is the volunteer-led environmental group founded in Casares Costa in late 2024 by British expat Melissa Vaughn and her American husband Danny. What began as a small effort among friends tackling beach litter has grown into an international community that gathers regularly to clear rubbish from beaches, rocky coastline, riverbeds and drainage channels across Casares, Manilva, Estepona and Marbella. Their philosophy is simple: no one can do everything, but everyone can do something.
