Mallorca beach clean-up invites families to make a difference in Cala Major

A free community event will bring volunteers together in Cala Major this Saturday for a morning of coastal conservation, environmental education and family activities.

Residents and visitors in Mallorca have the chance to help protect the island’s coastline this weekend, with a community beach clean-up taking place in Cala Major on Saturday, September 19.

The free event will run from 10am to 1pm, giving volunteers the opportunity to spend the morning collecting rubbish from the coastline and sea surface while learning more about the importance of protecting the Mediterranean environment.

The initiative coincides with World Cleanup Day, an international campaign that encourages communities around the world to take action against litter and environmental pollution.

Rather than simply being a beach clean, the Cala Major event is designed to combine practical conservation work with activities aimed at increasing awareness of the challenges facing coastal environments.

Family-friendly environmental activities

The event is being organised in collaboration with MBRC The Ocean, Cleanwave Foundation and Calama Collective, bringing together organisations focused on protecting marine environments and encouraging more sustainable relationships with the sea.
