A MAN who pretended to be a postal delivery worker stabbed a 16-year-old girl outside of her front door in Spain, sparking a manhunt from the police.
The horrific incident took place at approximately 10am this morning (February 12) on Calle Matilde Sangüesa in Tarragona. According to local sources, the assailant had posed as a deliveryman, ringing the intercom at the apartment block where the teenager lived with her family.
When the young girl pressed the button to open the entrance to the block of flats she then waited outside of her apartment. The assailant then climbed the stairs and approached her, stabbing her in the abdomen with a knife before fleeing from the scene.
As reported by the National Police, the victim immediately alerted her mother who was inside the apartment with units from the police and an ambulance arriving a short time later. Thankfully, she is expected to make a full recovery but remains hospitalised at the Clinical Hospital of Zaragoza.
A manhunt has now been launched to find the assailant who is described by a spokesperson from the Superior Police Headquarters as between 40- and 45-years old and 1.80 meters tall. As Euro Weekly News understands, the man was wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time, resulting in a limited description being provided by the victim. CCTV footage is currently being analysed by investigators.
