FOR 75 years, the Fogueres de Sant Joan Festival has been shaping Valencian culture and fashion with a significant evolution of traditional garments.

On May 2, Javea displayed the rich history of local clothes, highlighting authentic Valencian garments. The event, led by Isabel Marti, was held in the Plaza de la Constitucion, allowing the visitors to embark on a journey starting from 1950 through to the present day.

The first local children´s queens of the Fogueres de Xabia modelled the costumes worn throughout the years, preserved with nostalgia and care as local heritage.

Men’s traditional suits from decades ago were also displayed, highlighting the careful and detailed craft of Valencian garments.

From red and green to pastel flower prints and sparkling silver dresses, the garments brought back the region´s celebratory spirit, displayed by local girls and women with unique Valencian hairstyles and veils.

Men’s outfits ranged from velvet green to purple and black and white suits, complimenting the women and creating a mesmerising image of the changing traditions.
