Aquamijas is 40 this year and still the best for thrills and cooling off in Fuengirola and Mijas

Aquamijas water park between Fuengirola and Mijas has been delivering excitement and calm water experiences on the Costa del Sol for 40 years this year. The venue first opened in July 1986 and now celebrates four decades as a go-to spot for local families and holidaymakers to cool off in the summer months. Over a dozen attractions suit thrill seekers and gentler options for relaxation.
Adrenaline filled slides at Aquamijas water park
Kamikaze presents a steep descent from 17 metres high where participants cross their arms to gain speed down the straight run. Crazy Loop offers an enclosed journey with colourful light effects over 100 metres from 13 metres high. Riders select two intertwined paths measuring 108 and 92 metres in the maze of slides. Pistas Blandas provides four parallel tracks for races, while Rio Aventura takes adventurers through turbulent waters with caves and fast drops.
Family zones and calm Water options
Diver Dragon acts as a gentle introductory slide suitable for younger users. Isla Lagartos features shallow water play with giant lizard climbs, sprays and tipping barrels for children under seven. La Jungla functions as a colourful kids’ pool with small slides and interactive elements. Regular waves fill the wave pool with fresh water for beach-style fun. The Jacuzzi supplies jets and bubbles for relaxation, while Lago Azul hosts swimming and guided aqua sessions such as aerobics.
Practical information for Aquamijas visitors
Daily opening runs from 10.30am to 6.30pm throughout summer at Autovia del Mediterraneo, A-7, kilometre 1.016 in Mijas Costa. Online general tickets cost €32.50, junior tickets €25, child tickets €18.50 and senior tickets €25. Tickets on site cost a little more. Reduced rates from €15 and need to be applied for in June, July, August and September with savings for residents and family packs. Picnics without glass bottles receive a welcome, and free shaded areas with umbrellas support visitors. Float rentals speed river rides while lockers and medical assistance stay available on site.
