Calpe to light up old town hall with free immersive summer video mapping show

For three incredible evenings this August, the centre of Calpe will transform with a specially designed light show to dazzle audiences. The municipality will host a videomapping show, projected directly onto the beautiful and historic façade of the Old Town Hall, filling the town with colour, light, and storytelling. This immersive spectacle will offer residents and visitors a new way to experience Calpe’s rich culture, heritage, and architectural beauty, as well as form part of the perfect evening plan.

A stunning audiovisual experience for all ages

Using high-definition projection systems that will match every architectural feature on the face of the old Ajuntament Vell, the show will make the historic walls of this breathtaking building come alive, telling stories through motion graphics, dramatic soundscapes, and vivid light art. The visual narrative highlights the potent Mediterranean maritime tradition, coastal history, and artistic legacy that define Calpe’s unique identity along one of Spain’s most iconic coastlines.

Show dates, timings, and English session details

These projections are scheduled to take place on three evenings: Friday, August 7, Monday, August 17, and Wednesday, August 26. The evening will begin at 10:00pm, followed by a dedicated session with English-language narration at 10:30pm, and concluding with a final, late-night projection of the show at 11:00pm. Spectators will be able to comfortably enjoy the performance in front of the landmark building and make the most of a warm summer night on the Costa Blanca.

Exploring Calpe’s historic charm before the show

Located in the historic quarter, the Ajuntament Vell stands as one of Calpe’s most important landmarks. The structure, which was originally built on the site of an ancient lookout tower, now houses artistic exhibitions and serves as a cornerstone of the pedestrian district. Before the show, visitors will be able to stroll through the surrounding cobblestone streets adorned with flowers, murals, and traditional tapas bars, creating a complete and memorable evening out. 

All projection sessions will be entirely free to the public, making this event an essential highlight for families, art enthusiasts, and summer travellers alike.
