UPDATE: Russia calls claims that one million people could be part Russia’s mobilisation ‘lies’

RUSSIA has called claims that the Russian Ministry of Defence is set to call up ONE MILLION people as part of the “partial mobilisation” decree issued by President Putin- ‘a lie’.

UPDATE 4.32 pm (September 22) – Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied claims that Russia allegedly had plans to call up to one million people as part of partial mobilisation.

“This is a lie,” a Kremlin spokesman told Russian state-owned media outlet RIA Novosti.

Peskov has previously said that on the seventh point was hidden in the document because it was for official use and therefore could not disclose its content.

The spokesman clarified that it was about the number of conscripts, stating that Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu had already announced plans to call up to 300,000 people, but “not all at once.”

ORIGINAL 2.05 pm (September 22) – The secret 7th paragraph of Russia’s mobilisation decree, which was designated “for official use”, will reportedly allow the Russian Ministry of Defence to call up ONE MILLION people, as reported on Thursday, September 22.

According to news outlet Novaya Gazeta Europe, the classified seventh paragraph of the mobilisation decree allows Russia’s Defence Ministry to conscript one million people.

Citing a source in Russia’s presidential administration, the seventh point of the “partial mobilisation” decree, which was marked “for official use”, was excluded due to the figure reaching one million.

“The figure was corrected several times, and in the end, it was stopped at one million,” the source told the news outlet.

However, speaking on Russia’s Rossiya 24 TV channel, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu on Wednesday, September 21 said that 300,000 reservists will be called up during the partial mobilisation.

Speaking about that interview, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists about the missing paragraph and Shoigu’s comments, “the classified clause referred to the number of reservists who could be called up for military service.”

He added: “The only thing I can say is that Sergei Shoigu said in his interview: “300,000 people”. There we are talking about the number of up to 300,000 people.”

Since the announcement of the mobilisation, the military commissars of at least four Russian regions have signed orders that prohibit citizens liable for military service from leaving their cities.

Vladimir Rodionov, the Military Commissar of Russia’s Kursk Region, announced a tough approach to mobilisation, as reported on Thursday, September 22.

Speaking on the mobilisation of Russia’s Kursk Region, Military Commissar Vladimir Rodionov stated:

“The military registration and enlistment office will not pity anyone. Everyone will defend the homeland.”

“Only those who complain about their health will be sent for a medical examination”, the military commissioner explained.

“I warn those who will fake an illness, look at the criminal responsibility,” warned Rodionov.

“The guys who were hooligans during the draft, got away with 30 grand, this will not happen here. The approach is very tough, one has to protect the homeland.”
