Wherever you are in the world, the Norwegian Church Abroad ensures that you have a place where your faith and community are preserved.

With 28 Norwegian Churches across the globe, you will never feel isolated from your traditions and religion. The Norwegian Church is a non-profit organisation, commissioned by the Norwegian Parliament to unite Norwegians in every point of the planet.

Sjømannskirken was founded in Bergen in 1864, devoted to establishing safe havens for Norwegian seamen around the globe. With the changing generations and the increase of expatriates, the Norwegian Church Abroad continues to serve the community today.

The Church´s 2022 report counted 1200 Church services, 1100 visits to hospitalised Norwegians abroad and around 400 weddings per year. With national celebrations and religious rituals, the Norwegians Church Abroad allows the expatriates across the world to stay in touch with their heritage, eliminating all feelings of isolation.

Alongside the United States, Spain is the country with the largest number of Norwegian Churches, having six Churches in the country due to the high demand of the Norwegian population in Spain.
