An early morning fire in the La Carihuela area of Torremolinos has destroyed two motorcycles adapted for people with reduced mobility, raising major concern in the busy, popular coastal neighbourhood. The incident took place at Carihuela Palace, a residential urbanisation on Avenida Carlota Alessandri. Flames were reported in an outdoor area near a property, drawing attention from neighbours and passers-by as emergency services were called swiftly to the scene.

Vehicles supporting mobility were lost

Both motorcycles had been specially modified to assist individuals who suffer with mobility challenges, making the damage particularly distressing for those affected. Adapted vehicles often require custom engineering and specialist components, meaning replacement can be costly, inconvenient and time-consuming for owners. The fire is believed to have started in a porch or exterior section where the motorcycles were parked, leading to their destruction before the situation could be fully brought under control by emergency crews working at the location.

Firefighters prevent further damage

Teams from the fire brigade in the Torremolinos unit responded quickly and extinguished the blaze at the residential complex. Rapid intervention prevented flames from spreading to nearby homes situated within the busy urbanisation. No injuries were reported by the Malaga Provincial Fire Brigade, with only material damage confirmed, which emergency responders described as a positive outcome given the risks associated with the incident.

Investigation into cause continues

Police have opened an investigation to determine how the fire began. No official cause has been confirmed, and authorities have not ruled out any possible scenarios. Officers are currently examining the scene and collecting evidence as part of ongoing enquiries into the incident.

Local concern over safety

Residents in the area have expressed concern following the fire, particularly due to the impact on accessibility for those affected. Carihuela Palace has drawn attention locally as questions continue regarding prevention and safety measures.
