WITH a crucial fixture against FC Copenhagen looming this Tuesday, October 23, Manchester United are hoping to have Sergio Reguilon available for selection.

After fighting back to fitness following an injury, the Tottenham loanee missed last Saturday’s 1-2 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane due to illness.

The Red Devils have already lost both of their Group A matches and a bad result against the Danes at Old Trafford could seriously jeopardise their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the tournament.

Speaking about the Spanish international defender during a press conference at the Carrington training ground, United’s Dutch coach, Erik ten Hag said: ‘Today he will train and then we have to assess if he is ready and game fit or if he can be involved in the squad. We have to wait for that’.

‘Sergio got ill for Saturday so he was fit. He trained all week last week and yesterday (Sunday) he was back in part training. He will train on Monday and then we have to assess if he is ready and game-fit or if he can be involved in the squad. We have to wait for that’, he added.

Who will Ten Hag play in place of the suspended Casemiro?

Luke Shaw is currently sidelined for a lengthy period which has resulted in Ten Hag using Sofyan Amrabat as a makeshift left-back due to his current shortage of defenders.

The return of Reguilon would allow the manager to play the 27-year-old Moroccan international in his usual midfield role. That would also provide adequate cover for Casemiro who is suspended for tomorrow’s clash after the Brazilian was sent off in the defeat by the Turkish giants Galatasaray three weeks ago.

Tyrell Malacia could also be back soon. The Dutch international defender was seen training away from the first-team group at Carrington as he battles back from injury, according to manutd.com.

Can Arsenal get a result away to Sevilla in Group B?

Arsenal face a tricky contest in Spain where they will play Sevilla in a Group B clash in the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan. Last time out, the Gunners lost to Ligue 1 outfit Lens in France so Mikel Arteta’s side really need to pick up a good result on Tuesday night.

It remains to be seen whether the manager continues to favour David Raya in goal, with the Spanish keeper preferred to Aaron Ramsdale in recent weeks. Raya was not in the best of form in last Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea and Ramsdale has travelled to Sevilla with the squad.

Arteta was asked during his press conference whether he felt Raya was struggling after his move from Brentford. He responded: ‘I haven’t seen that at all’.

‘That’s the pressure of playing in big clubs, where you have to win and you have to be at your best, and you have someone next to you who is pushing you every single day’, the Arsenal coach continued.

‘That’s the debate. That’s the beauty of the game as well. The fact that you have other options as well is going to make that talk more frequent’, he stressed, as reported by arsenal.com.
